Highlands College
MINISTRY TRAINING
A distinctive part of the Highlands College education is our ministry training program which consists of leadership classes focused specifically on ministry and extensive hands-on ministry training in one of eight specific practicums.
Highlands College students are developed, known, and engaged by our faculty through active learning environments instead of a large lecture hall setting where they can stay anonymous and passive.
Professors use active learning technology, shorter lectures, and our unique Learning Studio layout to facilitate a variety of activities. Students are encouraged to ask questions, talk with each other, work in small groups on an activity, and respond through in-class technology. As a result, students become passionate, life-long learners, and are prepared for the opportunities they will have serving in ministry around the world.
Additionally, ministry training at highlands College includes exposure to ministry leaders from around the world.

Ministry training isn’t one-size fits all, and part of being successful is recognizing God’s individual plan for you. As part of our ministry training program, HC students choose and dedicate over 400 hours to one of eight different practicum areas where they explore their passions and hone their talents in the living laboratory of the Church of the Highlands.
HC believes it is important for every student to be connected to the local church and be a part of what God is doing through weekend services. All students complete the Church of the Highlands Growth Track during orientation. The Growth Track helps them discover their unique gifting, develop personal leadership, and train them to be ready to serve the church. Upon completion of the Growth Track, each student serves on the Dream Team, or volunteer group, under the supervision of their practicum.
