INTRODUCING

Dr. John Cespedes

Dr. John Cespedes, Ph.D., M.B.A., M.A., is an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Highlands College. He teaches Biblical Introduction, Biblical Interpretation and New Testament Introduction courses.

We asked Professor Cespedes a few questions to better understand who he is and what he enjoys about teaching at Highlands College:

Accomplishments

My wife and I have raised three children that follow the Lord. I ran a half marathon up Pike’s Peak.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

My favorite part of teaching is the ability to guide students’ learning experience concerning the Word of God so that each party comes away from the session closer to our loving Father.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am a private pilot and have flown to 28 states.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?

Love is not what you feel but what you do.

What relationship has influenced you most throughout your life?

My relationship with my wife has influenced me the most. She is always on my side and has helped me become a better Christian, husband, and father.

What did you do prior to entering academia?

I was a regional sales executive of wireless telecommunication properties.

What do you consider your areas of expertise?

New Testament studies with a focus on the Gospels.

Why do you love working for HC?

The people here. From the students to the staff and faculty, it is a joy to work around Christians who desire to do the Lord’s will and honor Him.

What do you hope students will gain from your course?

I hope they grow closer to God and desire to be more holy because He is holy.
