The Meaning of Our Seal

The Highlands College Seal is more than a symbol; it expresses our mission and vision to fulfill the Great Commission in response to Luke 10:2. Every element of the seal tells the story of who we are and what we are called to accomplish as a college: raising up ministry leaders to make an eternal impact.

The Great Commission is Our Foundation

At the heart of the seal is Luke 10:2, which reads: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

This verse defines our purpose. Highlands College exists to train and send leaders into the harvest field, equipped and empowered to share the Gospel and make disciples.

The mission of Highlands College, as a biblical higher education institution, is to supply the Church with leaders of competence, character, and spiritual maturity, holistically trained to lead lives of eternal impact by fulfilling the Great Commission.

The Highlands College Seal reflects our vision to educate, equip, and empower leaders in a ministry academy model, applying leading-edge methods in world-class facilities where students launch into their calling to expand the Kingdom of God.

“Our dream is not only that you would come but that you would be sent.”

— Chancellor Chris Hodges

Ripe for the Harvest

The Field

The harvest field, depicted by golden rays surrounding the torch, represents millions of people who need to receive the life-changing message of the Gospel. It reflects the urgency of our mission to prepare graduates who are ready to engage in this vital work.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” – Matthew 28:18-20.

A Symbol of Leadership

The Torch

The Torch symbolizes the light of God’s Word, illuminating our path as we train leaders of competence, character, and spiritual maturity to fulfill the Great Commission. It reflects our commitment to equip students with the knowledge, character, and spiritual maturity they need to lead with excellence.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

The Flame

The Flame honors the eternal holy fire of God’s Spirit calling, transforming, and empowering our students and graduates for a life of eternal impact. This flame reminds us that every graduate is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a life of eternal impact. It is through His power that our graduates will accomplish the work to which they are called.

Under God’s Authority

The Crown

The Crown above the seal signifies the sovereignty of the “Lord of the Harvest,” reigning over all aspects of our mission and vision. It serves as a reminder that our mission is covered by God’s divine authority and grace. As we pursue the Great Commission, we do so under His leadership, trusting in His guidance and provision.

Remaining Connected to Christ

The Vine

The Vine recalls that Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches, and we are only fruitful as we remain connected to Him.

A Seal of Eternal Impact

The Highlands College Seal embodies our calling to prepare leaders who will have an eternal impact on the local church, the nations, communities, and families for the glory of God. It is a reflection of the life-changing work that we are committed to as an institution and as a community. Together, we are answering the call to send workers into the harvest, knowing that the best is yet to come.
